Awarded JAFSE Student Award 2023

Mr. Junichi Suematsu, 2nd degree of master's course of our laboratory, received the JAFSE Student Award 2023 for his excellent research presentation at the ''Annual  Meeting of the Japan Association of Fire Safety Engineering'' held at Hirosaki University in May 2023. Mr.Suematsu is investigating how the quenching distance, which is the minimum gap through which these flames can pass, is determined in order to contribute to the establishment of technologies for the safe use of next-generation energies such as propane, methane, and hydrogen. In this presentation, he aimed to establish a model that can predict the quenching distance, and studied in detail using experiments, image analysis, and theoretical calculations. It was found that the change in the burning velocity of the flameball at the very early stage of ignition has a great influence.

Award system name: JAFSE Student Award 2023

Presentation theme: Relationship between Transient Characteristics of Burning Velocity Just After Ignition and Quenching Distance

Recipient: Junichi Suematsu (2nd degree of master's student)
