We presented our research results in International Conference (ICDERS 2023)
We participated in the 29th International Colloquium on the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems (ICDERS2023) held at Seoul National University, Siheung Campus, South Korea from July 23 to 28, 2023. This conference mainly discusses the dynamics of explosions and reactive systems, and is characterized by many sessions such as the detonation properties of gases and shock waves. These phenomena are naturally closely related to laminar/turbulent combustion characteristics such as ignition characteristics and burning velocity, so such sessions are also provided. Imamura talked as an oral presentation on the results of laser ignition conducted in our laboratory in 2022. We experimentally investigated how spark generation and ignition in a laser are affected by the composition of a mixture of hydrogen, methane, propane, and air. Mr. Suematsu, a second-year master's student, talked in the poster presentation on how the quenching distance of a propane/air premixture is affected by the transient change in the combustion velocity immediately after ignition. He received many questions from the audience during his three-hour presentation, but he did his best to answer them in English.
This conference was attended by leading researchers from all over the world, so it was a high-level event and very stimulating. I will continue to do my best to carry out useful combustion research while keeping in mind global activities.
